Flower field position

Part time

Location: Dresden, ME

Months: May-October

Days: Mondays and Thursdays

Hours: 7:30-3:30, earlier start time during blueberry season/ potential to be combined with blueberry harvest position if desired

Compensation: Hourly, starting at $16/hr (unpaid lunch)

Lost & Found Farm is hiring a dynamic team member to join our busy flower season! We grow hundreds of varieties of flowers for our three busy farmers markets and wholesale accounts. We are looking for a team player who is willing to work through tough weather conditions and still keep a positive attitude. We are a small team, often individuals work independently. We are willing to train the right person, but prior flower farming experience is a plus!

Ideal candidates:

• Ability to work well independently as well as with a small team

• Strong communication skills

• Arrive on time

• Ability to lift 50 pounds or ask for help

• Preparedness to work outside in all types of weather (cold, rainy, hot, and humid conditions)

• Ability to maintain pace and positive attitude while doing tasks

• Attention to detail and quality

• Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and stand for hours and the duration of the day

• Willingness to take direction, ask questions, and learn. There is a lot of detailed work involved in flower growing!

Responsibilities:

• Greenhouse work (filling pots/flats, seeding, potting up plants, and other misc. greenhouse tasks)

• Planting and harvesting hundreds of lilies in crates in greenhouse

• Mulching, wheelbarrowing compost, raking

• Amend and prep beds for seeding and planting

• Transplanting thousands of flower seedlings

• Assist with irrigation set up

• Bucket washing

• Flower harvest of specific flowers

• Hand weeding, stand up hoeing, and wheel hoeing

• Operating power-tools, weed wackers, and mowers, no prior experience necessary. Willingness to learn necessary.

Requirements:

• Drivers license in order to transport flowers from field to cooler ( 5 min commute)

Other notes:

• This position does not include bouquet making/ floral design work.

• Possibility for additional hours weekly for the right person.

• Potential for work into December or help with wreath season.

Wild Blueberry Sorting Position

Part time & Full time

Location: Gray, ME

Months: Mid- July to Mid- August

Days: Monday through Friday, Sundays as scheduled

opportunity for 2-3 day/ week commitment

priority given to those available 5 days/ week and for the whole season

Hours: 10:30- 5:00 PM (.5 unpaid lunch break)

hours may vary depending on weather/ harvest

Compensation: Hourly, starting at $16/hr

Requirements:

• Ability to work well independently as well as with a crew

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to lift 50 pounds or ask for help

• Ability to work inside all day, mostly standing in hot, humid conditions

• Ability to maintain pace and positive attitude while doing the same somewhat monotonous task all day every day!

• Attention to detail and quality

Responsibilities:

• Load harvested blueberries onto a conveyor belt

• Use quick hands to sort berries off of moving conveyor

• Organize/ Label finished product

• Have fun, be positive, work hard, and meet new people!
